Dog Officer
Who I am:
The Dog Officer is appointed by the Board of Selectmen and supervised by the Police Department.
What I do:
Enforce dog related bylaws, including the leash law and the registration and licensing bylaws. Investigate complaints, follow up on unlicensed dogs; determine violations of dog-related bylaws; maintain a log of complaints; issue bylaw tickets; attend dog hearings, as required. Pick up and transport stray and unleashed dogs; feed and shelter dogs; attempt to locate owners and bring complaints against owners of dogs not licensed. Destroy or cause to be destroyed, dogs that are maimed, injured or diseased.
Hours:
Please leave a message on answering machine. Will pick dog(s) up when I get home from work. If possible catch and tie up dog(s).  If Emergency Call Police at 498-5118 or 625-8200   You must make an appointment to pick up any found dog(s). Appointments are generally scheduled for early morning or after 5:30 p.m.
