Zoning Board of Appeals
Annual Town Report
2005
The Zoning Board of Appeals is comprised of five regular members and three alternate
members. The are appointed for 5-year alternating terms and are appointed by the
Board of Selectmen. The Board meets on the second Monday of each month for business
meetings and as posted for public hearings. The ZBA acts in a quasi-judicial capacity
on the issuance of certain special permit applications, petitions for variances
from the Zoning Bylaws and appeals from the acts of the Building Inspector. The
Board has the power to receive testimony under oath. Most decisions of the ZBA
may be appealed by an aggrieved party to the District, Superior or Land Courts.
The Zoning Board of Appeals updated the Application for a Zoning Permit, and
created addition forms. The ZBA's goal is to make the application process as clear
and easy as possible.
The ZBA acted on various requests as follows:

The Board welcomed Mary King as a new member and regretfully accepted the resignation
of long time member Jack Nelson in September. Jack had been a member of the ZBA
