Who we are and what we do

The Open Space Committee's job is to implement the Northfield Open Space and Recreation Plan, which can be viewed by following the links below. Among the goals of the plan are to: Ensure that Northfield sustains its small town environment characterized by general peace and quiet, clean air and water, and maintenance of its rural characteristics including forests, farms, wildlife habitat, relatively low-density development outside of villages, and access to trails, ponds, and natural areas. Additional goals, and detailed objectives, can be found in the plan. The plan and the committee structure - nine members, seven appointed by the Selectboard, one appointed by the Planning Board, and one appointed by the Conservation Commission - were approved at the November 2005 town meeting.
