How do I obtain a certified copy of a birth, death or marriage certificate?
Send $5 to the Town Clerk, 69 Main Street, Northfield or stop in at the Town
Hall during regular business hours of the Town Clerk. Click

How do I register to vote?
You can register to vote by visiting the Town Clerk at Town Hall, filling out
a mail-in voter registration form or at the Registry of Motor Vehicles when renewing
your license.
Why did I receive a Motor Vehicle Excise tax bill?
Each time you register a motor vehicle that vehicle is assessed a yearly excise
tax.
Am I eligible for an exemption on my real estate tax bill?
You may be eligible for an exemption if you are legally blind, a veteran with
a service connected disability, surviving spouse, minor child of deceased parent,
senior citizen age 70 and older.

When and where is the Annual Town Meeting held?
The Annual Town Meeting is held the 1st Monday in May at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Valley
Regional School, F. Sumner Turner Road, Northfield.
How do I get a building permit?
You must fill out and return a building permit application to the Building Commissioner.

How do I get a permit to burn brush?
To obtain a burn permit you must call Shelburne Control at 625-8200 on the day
that you would like to burn, January 1st through May 1st of each year. The permit is valid for One Day only.
Where can I buy Northfield trash bags?
Trash bags are available at The Northfield IGA, Northfield Mobil and Mim’s Market.

How can I make a tax payment?
You can now pay your taxes online! Click

Town Hall c/o Tax Collector or stopping in at Town Hall during regular business
hours of the Collector.
