Town of Northfield

Massachusetts 

Located in Western Massachusetts and incorporated in 1723, Northfield is a rural community(pop. 2,883) with easy access to Amherst, Northampton, Brattleboro, VT. and Keene, NH. It is a town of farmland, forested hills, streams, wetlands and wildlife; and it is the only town in Massachusetts situated on both sides of the Connecticut River.

Per the Selectboard meeting of 6/30,

the meeting scheduled for 7/14 will not include Kinder Morgan related discussion due to the absence of Selectboard member Tracy Rogers.

The Selectboard is soliciting comments for inclusion with their FERC Response regarding the Notice of Intent for the Northeast Energy Project (pipeline).

The comments should fall under one of the following sections of the Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) format as follows:

           Geology and soils
          Water resources and wetlands
           Vegetation and wildlife
           Cultural resources

          
Land use, recreation, and visual resources
           Air quality and noise
           Cumulative impacts and
           Public safety. 

Other comments not covered in the sections above are welcome.

The Selectboard would like to produce a “first rough draft” by Thursday, June 16th. 

 (Note that comments may still be submitted after this date, but the Selectboard would like to have this draft assembled by July 16th.)
